Frequently Asked Questions

therapy and Assessment

  • I accept Lyra Health Insurance. Otherwise, I am considered an out of network provider. It may be possible to be reimbursed for part of my fee and I am happy to provide you with a “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance company for my services as an “out-of-network” provider. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out more about this process.

  • There are numerous reasons why I’ve chosen to be a private pay provider, including:

    1) I am a highly trained and specialized provider in my area of expertise. Typically, the contracts that providers must agree to with insurance companies are geared towards “generalist” models.

    2) When working with an out of network provider, none of your mental health information will need to go on your permanent medical record like it does when paying through insurance.

    3) Insurance companies require that providers assign their clients a diagnosis for the purpose of justifying “medical necessity”. As a private pay provider, I do not need to give you a diagnosis if it is not clinically appropriate.

    4) Insurance companies determine the frequency and length of treatment you will receive. As a private pay provider, you and I get to be in charge of determining what’s best for you.

  • I am currently offering virtual video appointments over a HIPAA-approved, secure telehealth platform. This allows my clients the flexibility to prioritize their mental health from a convenient and private location of their choosing. I am able to provide therapy and assessment services to individuals residing anywhere in the states of California and Florida.

  • I am available to provide therapy services to individuals anywhere in California, Idaho, and Florida. To learn more about about my out-of-state telehealth license in Florida, please visit https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/.

  • A clinical psychologist holds a doctorate degree and typically completes 6-8 years of specialized graduate level training. In addition to clinical training, a psychologist with a Ph.D. is more likely to have a background in research. Psychologists are also held to the highest ethical standards and are required to undergo continuing education to maintain their licenses.

  • I do not currently offer services for individuals under the age of 18.

  • You will pay for an appointment through the secure Simple Practice online portal. Payment is due at the start of your scheduled appointment.

  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. This is called a “Good Faith Estimate”. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

Non-clinical services

  • The first step is to contact me so we can get to know each other better and see if I can provide you with what you are looking for. If we decide to move forward with working with one another, the next steps will depend on the type and scope of the project. They may involve booking appointments at an hourly rate to further visualize and design a project of interest, agreeing upon a flat rate for a project, or both.

  • All payment will be completed through a secure online portal. The time of payment will depend on the agreed upon type and rate for the project. For appointments booked directly, payment will be made at the time of booking. For services that include a mutually agreed upon hourly or flat rate, a finalized invoice will be provided with the total payment that is due at the time that the service is completed.

  • Yes, I am available to travel. The cost of travel will be calculated into the agreed upon rate for the services.

  • No, I do not provide supervision services for unlicensed professionals who need to obtain hours for licensure. I only provide clinical consultation to licensed professionals.

CTAS Policies

  • Appointments for all services must be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours advanced notice or the client will be charged the full appointment fee.

  • For non-clinical services (i.e., consultation, speaking, training), no refunds will be issued once payment has been made, unless in the very unusual circumstance that I am unable to provide the agreed upon service due to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.
